SHOWS

Thursday Night Improv is the funniest show of the week in Melbourne, bringing together the city’s most talented improvisers for a fast-paced, unpredictable night of comedy. Every show is completely made up on the spot, packed with big laughs, wild ideas, and moments you’ll never see again. Come along and watch Melbourne’s best improvisers create something hilarious out of absolutely nothing!

Get your popcorn and take your seats, as we bring you a special double feature of Hollywouldn't on the last Saturday of the month!

We start with a completely original film title suggested by the audience, and then we create a fully improvised film live on stage, performing multiple character roles, as well as providing the directing, the script writing, the camera angles, the special effects, the sound, the best boy grip, the stunt performing, and everything else involved in a massive movie that Hollywood...wouldn't make!

Plot Twist is what happens when stand-up comedy collides headfirst with total chaos. Comedians take the mic and spin wild, unpredictable stories, and then a cast of fearless improvisers jumps in to bring them to life on the spot.

Expect scenes that spiral, characters that shouldn’t exist, and twists so ridiculous even the storytellers won’t see them coming. It’s fast, unhinged, and completely made up every time!

Good Vibes Improv Jam is a fun, low-pressure chance to jump on stage and play. It’s not a class but more like a guided playground for improv, where anyone at all can give it a try in a safe, supportive environment.

Whether you’re a total newbie or a season performer, everyone is welcome, and participants will receive free entry into our show, Thursday Night Improv, which begins straight after at 7:30pm.

about us

The Improv Pit has its founding roots back in 2016, when a small group of improvisers started touring around Australia at comedy festivals before reorganising and establishing The Improv Pit in 2020.

In the aftermath of the global pandemic, we continued performing weekly shows around Melbourne's inner north with a growing cast of performers, and also launched our public workshop program, where we train up new students throughout the year.

In 2025, we took out a lease on our own venue, establishing our new permanent home at 5/48 Easey St, Collingwood.
