BUILT FOR BEGINNERS
Level 1 starts from zero, and so does most of the room.
EVERY SCENE IS A TEAM EFFORT
One person starts a scene, then everyone jumps in. Your job is to back each other up.
CONFIDENCE BUILDS EACH WEEK
You'll get up a little more every class. By the end of term, jumping in feels natural
THE ROOM WARMS UP FAST
Give it 15 minutes. By week two you'll know everyone's name.
EIGHT-WEEK IMPROV COURSES
One night a week. Start with Level 1, then build your improv skills through Levels 2 and 3.

ABOUT THE PIT
We started in 2016 as a small group of improvisers playing comedy festivals around Australia, and became The Improv Pit in 2020.
After Melbourne's lockdowns we were back on stage across the inner north every week, and started running classes as the ensemble grew.
In 2025 we moved into our permanent home at 5/48 Easey Street, Collingwood, with our own space for classes, rehearsals and live comedy.

Everyone plays together at the group's pace, and no experience is needed.

No. Level 1 is about listening and agreeing. The funny comes later, on its own.

Not on night one. You start in pairs and small groups, and the term builds to an end-of-term show you can invite anyone to.

That's what the free trial is for. One workshop, so you can see how the room feels before you spend a cent.

No. Most people come on their own. You'll spend the night working with everyone in the room.
